While doing my research, the one thing that surprised me was how forward thinking Adams was while writing H2G2. The book reads as if the author had recently written it, not at all like a 40 year old book. Video gaming, computers and VR were just becoming popular back then and I lived in the Los Angeles Area in California at that time (which prided itself on being up to date with the times). Interactive gaming, like the H2G2 online game was limited to a couple of arcade games ( Dragon’s Lair being the most popular of this type of game). While reading of all the cool ways to imagine this story, the interactive relationship between Marvin and Arthur and Ford was really funny ( A robot with depression- ha!) Now that, was a surprise! While I was surprised to know that the author, Douglas Adams was 49 at the time of his death, he continues to inspire future generations.
